If you have been raised with Christ, Seek the things that are above; Where Christ has sat be enticed, The right hand of God thereof. Set your mind on things above, Not on things that are on earth; The affection from His love, Far exceeds an earthly worth. You have died life is hidden, With Christ in God and in you; Do not what is forbidden, Rather what Christ has said true. When Christ in your life appears, In glory with Him will be seen; He will be drying our tears, Forgiveness all that has been. Put to death the earth in you, Passion and immorality; Evil desire construe, Lust which is idolatry. On account of things of wrath, For your disobedience; While straying off the path, Punishing for deviance. In these you too have once walked, When you were living in them; Blasphemers how they have talked, God is prepared to condemn. You must put them all away, Of obscene talk from your tongue; For the things that you would say, Offending God what is flung. Lie not one to another, Put off the old self of deeds; Be gracious to your brother, Catering as to His needs. You must put on the new man, Renewed in knowledge of Him; All following of His plan, Because His light is not dim. Copyright © 2020 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
