JULIE

I couldn't even remember
Her name
The other day
When her husband
Came my way
For the little church
In this little town
To help me out
But I remembered
To say
"God Bless your wife
In my life".

Then tonight by my old
House there on that
Hill
Where they have sunsets
That I could
Feel
And a church close by
I drove around three times
Before I went in
My God sister friend

Because of you
I sit and prayed
That's what you've laid
Down in my soul
Queen Julie of this town
And it's turned my faith
In humanity around
That someone cares
Yes many do
But girl you were the first
Yes, you!

What a blessing
Always confessing
The good and bad
Times I've had
Made wrong choices
Some don't like the poet voices
That come out of me
Maybe one did
The preacher's pretty
Wifely kid
To me
Set free

My big relief
She calmed my grief
Actually gave me light
Then here who hides
To help me tonight
With heat?
Oh that God of love
I know of
Is Godly sweet
Cannot be beat
Thank you so much
My Lord of touch
For touching my despair
'Cause someone cared

A few tears flow
Down my left cheek
As I know God
And maybe the Father
Wants the son to seek
Out this old woman
Who thought death should
Have been coming

But the son came instead
With life to bid
Me back again
Oh Father make your son
My friend
Help me to understand
How hard is it
To do it all alone
With a dog on an island
I am alone and blinded
My eyes too weak to see
The plan your son's dying
Gave me
Where I don't have to be perfect
I may fall, but will
Not wallow
In yesterday or tomorrow
Where this moment I have
Is filled with God's grace
It shine's from Julie's face
And perhaps she won't know
What it means to me
That I shall come to know
Jesus will sit me free.
